1. Little River State Beach

Located beside the most charming small town with friendly businesses galore, Little River State Beach is a pristine little spot overlooking a majestic California bluff. This pet-friendly beach is part of Van Damme State Park, so you can have the best of both worlds as you explore nature for the day. It’s the perfect place to lay out and relax after hiking the trails of Van Damme State Park! Plus, it’s right outside your door at the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek.

For a unique sight, make sure you check out the Little River Blowhole. This fascinating spot is where waves roll in through a rock tunnel, forming a punchbowl!

2. Bowling Ball Beach

You’ve never seen a beach like this before! Bowling Ball Beach is just south of Point Arena, where large boulders resembling bowling balls line the shore! They’re all that’s left after millions of years erosion.

3. Sea Glass Beach

Glass Beach in MacKerricher State Park is one of the most captivating sights to see in Fort Bragg. Smooth and colorful pieces of glass line the sandy shore, making it a hot spot for photography. We highly recommend that you add these naturally made treasures of the sea to your Mendocino bucket list!

4. Jug Handle State Reserve

Nestled between the ocean and Pygmy Forest, Jug Handle State Beach is a great family-friendly beach just north of Caspar. The sandy white beach is perfect for children and dogs who love to play under the sun.

After hanging out on the beach, you can discover the Ecological Staircase Trail, where you’ll see five different ecosystems on different ridges of the land, forming somewhat of a staircase! Then, explore the pine trees and cypress trees of Pygmy Forest.
