During World War II the property was turned over to the U.S. Coast Guard to house the shore patrol, which was on the lookout for invaders along the shoreline from Point Arena to Westport. The Coast Guard added three cottages to the property, one of which was the romantic Water Tower Cottage. The cottage was once an armory and the lookout tower held an anti-aircraft gun. Now, the base of the tower holds a private and romantic hot tub and climbing the spiral staircase leads to a lofted platform sure to provide a breathtaking view of the ocean and Mendocino coast. Through the fenced in courtyard, the tiny cottage holds a queen-sized bed with a pillow top mattress, a cozy fireplace, a small seating area, and a large and sunny bathroom.
Although we allow two pets per accommodation, if you're traveling with larger breeds, we recommend one of our more spacious cottages like Pomo or Ledford.
